Recommendations to the Local Task Force from Participants in the Truth and Reconciliation Travel Consultancy to South Africa

[These recommendations were compiled by James Lamar Gibson from the 23 member delegation that traveled to South Africa November 11th through 20th. These short reflections are but the beginning of their attempt to bring back their learnings to the Greensboro community.]
- Make full use of spirituality and the arts as a base for conversation.
- Find time to tell others that you love them. Use love as a base to conversation as well.
- The composition and unity of the Local Task Force is essential to guiding the process.
- The simplicity of love to shine in the youth should be nurtured.
- Acknowledge the need for youth involvement.
- Make the path by walking.
- Utilize the unique gifts of all people involved in the process.
- Teach love by example with an emphasis on youth.
- Continue to develop the vision as a context for implementing the resolution with an emphasis on youth.
- Work on and strengthen the capacity to hold conversations on race specifically as it relates to the work.
- Appreciate, claim, and propagate what has been achieved.
- Persist in effort to do even more.
- Carry out the work.
- Film version of the report.
- Challenge other communities to think about the fact that you can not go forward without talking about your past.
