by the Beloved Community Center
Aug. 13, 2009
Jorge Cornell, recently arrested and put under a 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM curfew, shed light on the gang unit’s continued provocative behavior towards him and the members of his organization. Cornell said that neither he nor any member of his organization did anything illegal or improper on the night he was arrested and that the allegation of “flashing gang signs” was totally false. Cornell maintained that “there were simply no other individuals or groups downtown that could be identified as a gang, and no signs were flashed. This is all made up stuff”. The Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation further claimed that the allegations of the Gang Unit are irresponsible, as they seem to be setting up a fight between street groups (gangs). He said that the Gang Unit has turned into a political unit, seeking to derail his campaign for City Council.
