[Many in Greensboro know Fahiym Hannah as an organizer through his work with the Justice at Smithfield Campaign, the Campaign to Raise the Minimum Wage, and his work with the Beloved Community Center. What you may not know is that Fahiym is a poet. ]
I love art.
I stepped over classroom chairs and watched the special ed create magic from numbers.
I stepped over concrete and found the desperateness of the city graffiti-ed on the wall.
I stepped over tiles and found that rich people have problems posted in galleries.
I stepped over carpet and watched a 9-year-old tell a story with stick figures and printer paper.
I stepped over railroad tracks and found a hobo screaming to the stars with a harmonica.
Every day, I stepped over a hardwood floor in my sister’s room to bring the arts to my sister’s world,
Because I love her more than art.
